Recipient: Joy of Motorcycling - San Diego, CA
Award Date: 5/16/2006    Grant Amount: $3,000

Purpose of Funds: Acquisition of equipment and supplies to teach the Accident Scene Management Bystander Assistance Program through out California and surrounding areas where another ASMI instructor is not available.  Class equipment was used to achieve the highest impact for participants.

 

Recipient: Gold Wing Riders Association - Crystal Lake, IL
Award Date: 5/24/2006    Grant Amount: $3,000

Purpose of Funds: Funds were applied to the Human Factor – Training and Education of 3600 members of GWRRA and the citizens in the State of Illinois that have the potential of interaction with motorcyclists.  There is an already established curriculum within the training structure of GWRRA that encompass not only our membership but the public at large.  These funds would serve to present this information in a more professional manner within our Rider Education Division, Leadership Training Division and our Motorist Awareness Division.

 

Recipient: Purdue University Center for the Advancement of Transportation Safety
Award Date: 6/06/2006    Grant Amount: $9,999

Purpose of Funds: Design, Implementation, and Evaluation of a Pilot Motorcycle Safety Campaign in the Purdue University Community.

 

Recipient: Wisconsin Community Services - Milwaukee, WI
Award Date: 5/25/2006    Grant Amount: $5,000

Purpose of Funds: Provide support for safety workshops at a motorcycle safety event sponsored by a collaboration of a non-profit community safety organization, a motorcycle dealership, a motorcycle riders group and two state agencies. 

 

Recipient: Accident Scene Management - Wellington, OH
Award Date: 7/18/2006    Grant Amount: $2,707

Purpose of Funds: Provide a digital light projector and materials utilized for the presentation of the Bystander Assistance Program to motorcyclists throughout Ohio. This program is designed specifically for motorcyclists, teaching them the skills necessary to assist when a crash occurs.

 

Recipient: Steven Staples - Memphis, TN
Award Date: 7/18/2006    Grant Amount: $2,707

Purpose of Funds: Provide a digital projector, classroom materials and support funds ($800) to bring make motorcycle awareness a component in the Memphis City School Driver Education Program for the 2006-2007 school season for over 3,000 student drivers using the MSF “Cars, Motorcycles and A Common Road: motorist awareness program.

 

Recipient: Accident Scene Management - Waukesha, WI
Award Date: 10/01/2006    Grant Amount: $2,580

Purpose of Funds: Funds to train three current instructors how to teach Instructor Training classes so that more instructors can be trained each year. Currently ASMI has 36 instructors in 16 states. ASMI would like to increase the number of Instructor training sessions to a minimum of 4 each year with training sessions to be held in different parts of the US in order to make training more accessible for those who wish to become instructors of ASMI classes. The potential of this training would be that students being trained in Bystander Assistance would double before the end of 2007.
