Why is Law Enforcement Rousting Sport Motorcycle Riders?

I have written an article about how the minority of Sport Motorcycle Riders are ruining it for all of us. I know this article is controversial. So Be It! You can find my article here : http://www.bikerlawblog.com/index.php?blog=2&title=why_is_law_enforcement_rousting_sport_mo&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1

    Biker_Lawyer,

Well written article.  There is nothing controversial in it!!  Being in CA, I see the exact same things you do.  I think we need to put ourselves in "law enforcement shoes".  We would do the same thing.  None of us want to see bikes wrapped around trees, (not to mention bodies).  Thanks for your boldness in writing this article.  This makes two of us trying to get the word out about motorcycle safety and giving "cagers" a good reputation of bikers.

    Keep up the good work.

    Ride Safe,

PS:  There's a time and place for everything.

Nice job, Norman. Place the blame where it belongs without pissing off the rest of us sportbike riders!

Thanks for your replies guys. Unfortunately the many always get punished or categorized by the few bad apples in the group.

Think of like the recent spinach e-coli outbreak. Because some spinach was tainted, they took all of the spinach off of the shelf.

Same thing with sport bike riders. When the cops see guys on Sports Bikes racing in the canyons or running down Ventura Blvd. doing a wheelie at 80mph, they will tend to look at all guys riding those types of bikes the same way; negatively. Same thing goes for the general public.

I do not see a solution to the problem because no matter what, there will be guys that will do these things, and they will continue to ruin it for everyone else who does not do these things.

As a fellow sportbike rider, I actually agree with your article.  As you said, it's always the bad few that ruin things for everyone else.  The average person doesn't know the difference between sportbikes.  To them they all look the same.  So if a sportbike passes a car on one wheel doing 100 mph, they won't know the difference between that sportbike or the sportbike sitting at the local Starbucks the next morning.  All we can do is try and change the general view and make positive examples for the general population.  I think I saw a post on here earlier about that.  Take time to do charity rides, watch your riding, pick and choose how you ride.  If you want to have alittle fun, go out in the country on some back roads where nobody is around..
