Education is a first step in being a safer rider. Feeling safe has nothing to do with actual risk.
My reply is based on the fact that the only information you have posted here is negative towards a proven safety device. As I posted before, my job is to make sure riders dont cheat on their safety because of misinformation, peer pressure or those (not implying you) who would distort true safety issues to progress their "rights" issues.
What if a state made gloves mandatory for all riders? Would there still be the same passion on both sides? Whould people be fired up about their "rights" taken away?
